Spring Recommendations

Hiya, long time no speak!

Things have been a bit busy since we last saw you at our Spring Market in March and it doesn't look like life will be quieting down any time soon. Plus, we adopted a kitten - his name is Horatio and he's very cute.

Although I won't be hosting any markets this summer, there are lots of great events happening within our community which I'd like to shout about. Scroll down to see our latest round up of free events, workshops, exhibitions, films and more.

Enjoy the rest of your week and weekend,

Three weeks away! We can't wait to be back at House of Vans in Waterloo for our Spring Market on Saturday 14th May. There will be lost in store including a morning workshop, t-shirt printing throughout the day, and a Mental Health talk in the afternoon. Pop it in your diary and click the photo to get your free ticket....

A belated note to say thank you for coming to our Spring Market in Leake Street Arches, it was a blast! Lots of amazing feedback from our makers and visitors.

We had an amazing time the other month with Hacknakey at Kingsland Locke in Dalston. A beautiful location and memorable evening drawing a few models and listening to original live music! If you've been thinking of joining a life drawing class, this is perfect for all levels. Lots of Monday evening sessions happening in May - just click the image to check out the Eventbrite page.

This weekend, Pexmas is hosting a two-day sustainable market extravaganza at Copeland Park in Peckham. Make sure to visit between 11-5pm on Saturday or Sunday to get a slice of the action. There will be 70+ small eco-conscious businesses taking part, lots of music, interactive workshops and exciting things to get involved in. It's free entry too! Tap the image for more info.

EXHIBITION We can't wait to visit this exhibition TRAFFICKED at Woolff Gallery in Marlyebone. The sustainable artist Josh Gluckstein uses recycled cardboard to make life-sized animal sculptures. Josh intends to raise awareness about animal trafficking and poaching which is endangering many wildlife populations. Visit before 8th May!

Magali from Wax / Wine is running a Candle Making Workshop at Clifford's Restaurant in Holborn on Monday 22nd May. We love Magali's sustainable idea of repurposing used wine bottles into gorgeous candles. Click the image to book.

Create Foundation are hosting a series of creative showcases at Pop Brixton in May/June/July. Click on the image above to apply. Stall prices vary from £25-£40 and anyone under 25 receives 25% discount! If you live near Brixton, pop 13th & 14th May in your diary to visit their first event.

Help Cockpit Deptford raise £15,000 to create a Craft Garden at the studios and support their community of makers. The lovely Annie from COCO GREY is hosting a number of wax carving workshops over the next few months. There is a Ring Carving Workshop happening at OHROS STUDIO in Hackney on 3rd June where you can learn the lost wax carving process. Tap the image for more info.

We went to see 'Air' the other evening (at our local cinema in BPS) and it didn't disappoint. I couldn't stop laughing and dancing to the great tunes...fortunately our neighbour was doing the same! If you haven't seen the trailer, definitely book tickets without watching it.

If you missed the last 'Blind Date with a Book' event, hosted by the brilliant team at SoLo Craft Fair Shop in Elephant & Castle, there is one coming up this Sunday 30th April. Books are given away for free each month to bring a little cheer to the local community. You can also take a look inside their shop!

We occasionally go to Vauxhall Marketplace if we can't decide what to eat or can't be bothered to cook. There are 10 individual food counters to choose from and the vibe/music is really good. It's also open 7 days a week until late!

Market and Me are putting on a series of free talks at the SoLo Craft Fair Shop to help small businesses thrive. The next event is on Tuesday 23rd May and you can book using the link on this image.

Comedy series 'Shrinking' on Apple TV+ is hilarious and one that we wished hadn't ended. It lives up to it's 8.1 IMDB score. Just waiting for Season 2 now!

Join the wonderful Art of the H-art Founder Alexia on Saturday 6th May at her relaxing Macrame Bottle Holder Workshop in Ebbsfleet Valley. Tickets are just £30 and can be booked by clicking on the image above.

Switch off and learn some embroidery and stitching techniques with Gini and shop the market too.
